Our People
Christopher Tarratt
Grandson of George Tarratt, Christopher Tarratt joined the company in 1964 after training with Wilson and Gill in London. Whilst in London, Christopher completed his studies to become a Fellow of the Gemmological Association (FGA) and reached Valuer status with the National Association of Goldsmiths.
Having retired from daily involvement with the business, Christopher does however maintain a regular contact with both Marcus and the team.
His passion for fine silver, bespoke commissions and excellent customer service, ensure he is never far away.
Marcus Ash
Marcus Ash is a Director of the company and responsible for the day to day running of the business. He joined the company in 2006 to take over the reigns following Christopher’s retirement.
Marcus began in the jewellery business as a part time apprentice while studying at University in 1981. Now, with over 25 years experience in the industry and having worked abroad for five of those years, Marcus brings with him a wealth of experience that is well suited to the cosmopolitan market that exists today.
His credentials include: A Science Degree (with honours), Retail Jewellery Diploma and a Gemstones Diploma. Marcus has also recently completed a Diamond Grading course at the Gemmological Institute of America’s London Office.
David Watt
David Watt is an award winning designer and Director of the business. He is responsible for running the busy creative and manufacturing side of the company.
David began his career by attending Design School in Birmingham. He has been with the company since 1985 having started as the sole designer and jeweller working alongside Christopher Tarratt. He now heads up a team of graduate Goldsmiths.
Using state of the art design software, combined with traditional bench skills, the workshop are proud to be able to offer a truly unique creative service for those clients looking for something different.
Accolades for David Watt include: 3D Design 1st Prize 2006, Gold Technological Innovation Award winner in 2009, Gold Assay Office Award Winner 2009, and 3D Design 1st Prize winner 2009.
David is supported in the Workshop by Caroline Thurman, Alex Buchanan-Smith and Natalie Semper.
Graham Adcock
Graham is Showroom Manager, responsible for ensuring that every customer has a memorable experience when visiting the showroom through quality presentation and outstanding customer service.
Graham is tasked with sourcing the finest Swiss Timepieces and involved in creating the range of jewellery available in our showroom.
Graham has over 15 years experience in the jewellery trade in Leicestershire. He is fully qualified as a Fellow of the Gemmological Association (FGA) in addition to his Retail Jewellery Diploma and has been with George Tarratt for 10 years.
Trudie Ustabas
Trudie Ustabas is the Head of the Jewellery department and is responsible for our jewellery collections. Trudie sources gemstones from around the world, ensuring that only the finest stones are selected for use in our pieces.
Trudie has been a key figure at George Tarratt for over 18 years and has more than 20 years experience in the jewellery business. This experience means that she understands exactly what her customers are looking for.
Trudie’s credentials include The Retail Jewellery Diploma and Gemstones Diploma.
Trudie is supported in the Jewellery department by Mo Choudhury and Suzie Reed.
Judith Brook
Judith Brook is the Head of the Watch department. Judith began by wrapping gifts as a teenager in her family’s jewellery shop in the centre of Leicester in 1976. Over her 25 years of experience she has acquired qualifications ranging from a Retail Jewellery Diploma, through to becoming a Fellow of the Gemmological Association (FGA).
With an uncanny ability to help with the most difficult purchasing decisions and a passion for good service, Judith is a patient and inspirational advisor.
Judith is supported in the Watch Department by Jenny Allnutt and David Barker.
Sarah Lawton
Sarah has been with the company for over 10 years. She has built on her FGA (Fellow of the Gemmological Association) qualification throughout that time and she is now recognised as a Member of the Institute of Registered Valuers.
Sarah provides an excellent understanding of jewellery and timepieces. From complicated watches to a specialism in diamonds, her depth of knowledge is an asset to the company, contributing to our reputation of providing quality information and advice.
Sarah is supported in the Administrative office by Anne Staines and Simone Tanser.
